X-FAB MEMS Foundry Itzehoe was established in 2009 as a spin-off from the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology (ISIT) and is active within the same wafer fabrication facility in Itzehoe/Germany. The X-FAB MEMS Foundry Itzehoe is focusing on MEMS production services and acts as a customer oriented contract manufacturer. Customer specific MEMS devices like micro sensors, actuators, micro optical structures, functional cap wafers and hermetic wafer level packaging processes are in the scope of the foundry business. The service offer aims at shortening the time to market of customer specific developments but also accelerates the exploitation and commercialization of existing and emerging technologies, applications and intellectual property.

The management team of X-FAB MEMS Foundry Itzehoe evolved from the Fraunhofer ISIT MEMS group and has outstanding experience and skills within the industrial development, industrialization and production of MEMS devices and components for automotive and other markets.
